Description

Hey guys! Took a small break from commissions for a self indulgent RP application :D Got only 3 more to go -cheers-

:iconillegibilus::iconillegibilus::iconillegibilus:

• Name: Ophelia Beauregard
        • Age: 16
        • Gender: Female
        • Height: 5'2
        • Weight: 7 stone 7 (105lbs)
        • Birthday: (Must be 11 years of age by the first day of the first year at Hogwarts. Optional)
        • Nationality: Scottish (French/British ethnicity and from Edinburgh! Though she speaks with HRP and occassionally lapses back into Edinburgh accent.)
        • House: Ravenclaw
        • Year: 5 (Born November 25th)
        • Wand Ingredients
            - Core: Dragon
            - Length: 10 1/4 in
            - Wood: Vine
            - Flexibility: Hard (Ribbed)
        • Spells:
Counterspell - Finite Incantatem, Finite, or Nonverbal

Counters a spell as it is being cast, or cancels an ongoing magical effect. Though taught at an early age, the actual effects of this spell are heavily dependent on the power and skill of the wizard casting it - it is widely used in everything from dueling to medicine, but has relatively limited utility to novices.
Shielding Charm - Protego, Dunbihu, or K'irara

Creates a shield from the caster's wand which deflects jinxes, hexes, and curses. The strength of this spell is directly connected to the skill and talent of the wizard, and stronger versions can protect against very advanced curses - or even reflect failed jinxes back against the attacker. Other advanced uses of the spell include protecting an area from outside harm (Protego Totalum); there are as many advanced variations as there are wizards to think them up.
        Disarming Charm - Expelliarmus

Causes the target's wand to fly from their hand. With sufficient power behind it, a Disarming Charm may throw a victim back forcefully. Disarming Charms are mutually off-setting - when cast against eachother, they generally deflect. The Disarming Charm is also an effective counter to many spells.
Summoning Charm - Accio, Invito, or Yaoqing

Summons an inanimate object to the caster. Objects held by someone else are generally impossible to summon in this manner.
Assaulting Hex - Oppugno or Awqana

Causes conjured objects or creatures to attack a victim.

        • Personality: | Persistent | Sincere | Inquisitive | Philosophical | Theatrical | Melodramatic | Wry | Pompous | Fanatical | Suspicious|
Ophelia is so exceptionally fanatical for the macabre that she is prone to behaving quite theatrical. She's the type to speak loudly and poignantly even to get across the simplest of ideas. That's perhaps one of the reasons why her humour is so wry and sardonic (she's just not the type to make things lighthearted.) If someone doesn't know her very well, one may assume that she's melodramatic and self important. They would be correct. Especially when others poke fun or outwit her, it's not atypical for the pompous girl to burst into crocodile tears before sulking off alone. When spending time by herself, the inquisitive part of her really begins to shine. She questions everything and can start leaning toward philosophical thoughts. Nothing is more interesting to her than deciphering the mysteries of the world around her. She's quite persistent in the pursuit of knowledge and when learning spells she deems 'necessary' until the skill is perfected. She's naturally quite suspicious of people as she believes that no one is what is they first present, thus she will continue to inspect those that interest her until she can discover what it is buried deep inside. She has a tendency to romanticise things, but every word that falls out of her mouth is sincere and from the bottom of her heart.
        • Background:
TLDR; Ophelia's mom is a sensible witch and her dad is a romantic muggle, together they raise Ophelia without magic until she shows signs of magical ability. Ophelia loves everything about the muggle world until she is pulled away to Hogwarts and then becomes enamoured with that instead. A lot of her tendencies from muggles has carried over, but she favors witches and the aesthetic of her new life. Even to the point that she's obsessive and has begun resenting her father for being a muggle!

Vivian Duchene was a student at Hogwarts about twenty years ago. After graduation, she worked a humble job as an assistant to a secretary at the Ministry of Magic. Handling small spells and making sure that if any spells went awry in the office that she took care of it to set things back into working order. Essentially she was a cog in the wheel and would spend much of her down time watching muggles struggling with the very same aspects to their own dead end jobs. That's when she met D'Artagnan Beauregard. A French theatre major who came to the UK following his team while they did shows for the theatres. He invited the woman to come and view his show, the rest is history.

Vivian has a tendency to be surprisingly down-to-earth while D'Artagnan has a flare for purple prose and romanticism. He easily swept her off her feet and after a short romance, D'Artagnan settled close to her to take over the local theatre. Vivian gave up her Ministry job and took care of cleaning and props (all too easy with the use of magic once the theatre was empty.) Eventually, she let D'Artagnan in on her secret, the man open as she shared her life with him. They celebrated their bond with the birth of a new child. Ophelia.

During the first two years of Ophelia's life, Vivian seemed to have everything under control. She was a magical lady after all. She and D'Artagnan spent down time with their beautiful baby while hiring more hands to make their theatre bigger as it was growing in popularity. All the while, the two young parents discussed how to raise their daughter. They had no doubts that they would put her into a Junior school when she got to the proper age, but they couldn't decide how best to raise her in the regards of magic. They discussed all of the possibilities and while D'artagnan was open to magic being in the house, Vivian thought it best to be a bit more restrictive. There was always the possibility of Ophelia being born a squib, no matter how rare the chances. She thought it was best to keep the use of magic on the downlow until Ophelia showed signs of magical ability (especially since children tend to show their abilities by age 7. At most, it would be 5 years without magic.) It was a small price to pay to not break their daughter's heart if she ended up having no magical abilities. D'Artagnan went along with her wishes.

Fortunately, when Ophelia was about 6 years old, she had her first spark of magic that her parents recognized. Ophelia asked for a cookie and when she didn't get it immediately, she simply held her hand out until the cookie drifted into her hand. Vivian was thrilled, snatched the cookie back and immediately began telling Ophelia all about how her life would be from then on.

Ophelia stayed in Junior school with all the muggles until she got her letter from Hogwarts, making friends with other little girls that claimed to be 'witches' and favored the occult things muggles seemed to love so much. She would spend her down time with her parents at the theatre, falling in love with language and being able to present oneself in a way that nobody could mistake. It was simple and beautiful and elegant. When she finally arrived at the castle, her love for her life and everything in it seemed to pour right out of her and she accepted being a witch for everything it was. She was sorted into Ravenclaw and learned everything she could.

Over the summer she spent time with muggle tutors, learning about the things in her father's life. It seemed that the time that Ophelia was away was like a honeymoon for her parents and when she came back, they would welcome her extravegantly. They spent a lot of time together as a family and the last day before school, her mother took her to Diagon Alley where they bought her a small little field mouse to keep her company in the next year. Her parents wrote long-winded letters often and she wrote them back, filling her days with books and pleasant discussions about everything the castle had to offer.

Her third year got a bit more challenging with the introduction of extra classes, but it just seemed to fuel her desire to absorb as much as she could. She talked with her parents a little less this year, often forgetting to send them letters back. The summer was spent with tantrums and small arguements about silly things, Ophelia becoming more accustomed to getting her way and not taking it well when she didn't. Her father seems less showy than he had been in the past, but there isn't any tension between her parents.

Her fourth year, Ophelia got absorbed in the magic of her school. There were stars in her eyes and she saw beauty in everything about Hogwarts. She didn't go home for holidays. She's fanatical about studies and hardly wants to go home even after exams. She cries when she has to leave and there are more fights, Ophelia snapping at her father and blaming him for her not being able to learn more about everything. The muggle world has lost the beauty that it used to have or maybe just her father has. Vivian doesn't seem to think so.

Vivian drops Ophelia off at the station this year and they talk about magic. Vivian insists that muggles have magic too... You just have to want to see it. Ophelia isn't sure she wants to. After a few short promises, Ophelia promises to write before hopping onto the train, ready for a new year of mysteries.
